When I started my hobby scrapbooking, I used to have a lack of ideas on how to describe the activity, theme or embellishment about my scrapbooking. I was trying very hard to look for poem, idiom or simple wording from a dictionary or reference from books, but I find it is very tiring on searching like an an ant without eyes. Finally, I found my way out and here I would like to share with you my tips.

Secret #1 Sourcing design from internet.

This is the most quick way to find embellishment that suits your scrapbooking. Simply type embellishment in the internet search engine, you will found a lot of information and web sites you want. You can type more specified topic of the embellishment you want such as embellishment for baby, for pet etc.

Secret #2 Advertisement Media.

I love to read magazine or newspaper advertisement, because some of the advertisement are very unique and colorful, that I cut out to convert it into my own embellishment. Especially if you are doing baby scrapbooking, a lot of motherhood magazine or baby magazine advertisement always attached with cute cartoon characters that you can cut out and make use as your scrapbooking embellishment.

Secret #3 Think like an ordinary person for your scrapbooking theme.

When you are running out of idea on how to define your scrapbooking theme, try to think a simple sentence to describe the picture or the photo. Then from there derive a theme of it.

Secret #4 Source from library craft section.

If you are a book lover, I’m sure this way is the most interesting for you. Library craft section has a lot of great idea on embellishment. I always found my favourite embellishment reference from children craft section. I believe you can find your preferred ideas from there too!

Secret #5 D.I.Y embellishment

I enjoy creating my own embellishment. Here I share some method to do. Material required are felt, adhesive for cloth, some design template such as flowers, animal, cartoon characters, then trace the template on the felt, cut out then paste all the pieces into one embellishment, and you are done!

Secret #6 Source from craft shops, giant stationery or book stores.

Scrapbooking is a very trendy hobby today. A lot of departmental store stationery section, book stores or craft shops have a lot of embellishment of various design. If you do not have time to create D.I.Y embellishment, this method is applied to you.

Secret #7 Forget about embellishment and just write.

Sometime I feel embellishment is too heavy in my scrapbooking, I just write in my own words, then added some simple geometric shapes to create some perspective design, then a simple scrapbooking is done!
