Scrapbooking Ideas – Coming Up With a Theme
Joshua Saunders asked:
So you want to create a scrapbook
, but you are short on ideas or need help with themes
. We all run short on ideas from time to time, but here are some things to get you going again.
Rule #1 of scrapbooking
: Pick a theme
and stick with it. Don’t deviate from your plan and try to get too crazy with your design. That’s not to say you can’t change things from page to page or make your pages look different, but the overarching theme should stay the same. Here are some ideas:
Patterns, plaids and other papers- There are literally tens if not hundreds of thousands of different papers. It might seem hard, but try using plaids or pattern paper
. These can be especially good in layers.
Seasons- Paper and stickers
for all seasons. But beyond that, there are segments of each. Try summer themed paper with summer activities, sports, picnics, the beach, fishing, camping, and other outdoor activities. Or go with winter, where there are an abundance of supplies with snow, snowmen, skiing, snowboarding, sledding, christmas, and other winter activities.
Try an antique theme. You can do an all black and white album
or page. This works well for wedding scrapbooks too, to scrap your honeymoon, wedding photos, or the events leading up to your wedding. For antiques, you can now buy antique tools that will make the edges of your paper look old and rustic.
Whatever theme you choose, plan ahead, layout your design, and then go forward and have fun creating your memory book.
